Elements of Style - Henry's Big Boy Room Reveal

When Erin Gates, founder and principal designer of Erin Gates Design and creator of the award winning design blog Elements of Style, emailed me asking about my trade discount because she was interested in incorporating some of my cars into her son’s big boy room I knew immediately that this room was gonna be amazing. Erin did not disappoint. Last week she posted images from Henry’s big boy room. I am still blown away by this design.

I love every detail of this design! From the wallpaper choice to the mix of patterns in the rug and bedding to the type of frame Erin chose for my car prints. ALL OF IT!

Erin chose six different types of cars, all being either red or blue. She ordered them in the 8x10 print size and chose the Light Burl Wood frame from Framebridge and included a white mat with final frame size being 14.25” x 16.25”. The 6 framed with mat 8x10 prints fit perfectly nestled between the beautiful scones and above the custom upholstered daybed by livenUpDesign which measures 85" wide x 32-34" high x 39" deep.

I have always wanted a vintage convex mirror just like the one in Henry’s bedroom shown here. I’m thinking it’s time for me to get my own vintage convex mirror.

How great is this custom red lamp from Dunes & Duchess. You can never beat a great pop of red. In addition to the vintage convex mirror, I also now want this large target practice art piece as well. Might as well go ahead and order the Serena & Lily basket, too.

Henry’s big boy room is definitely the most chic big boy room I’ve ever seen. I can’t tell you how flattering it is to have my cars as part of this design. I need some Jonathan Adler acrylic shelves in my life, too, as well as that cool leather chair. I already have the yellow Tonka dump truck, so I’m good there.

There you have it, people. The most sophisticated big boy bedroom you’ve ever seen. It’s not every day that you get an email from a New York Times Best Seller who’s contacting you because she wants to incorporate your artwork into her own home. When that happens I can tell you it’s one of the proudest moments of your career. One million thank you’s to you, Erin Gates. Room photos by @sarah_w_studios.
